Ecuador on the altiplano is the place to buy Indian ponchos, jumpers and weavings made from llama, alpaca and sheep wools.The gemstones of Brazil get a close examination with a visit to the gem cutting works and museum of Sterns at Ipanema. The gem mining regions of Minas Gerais are visited.
