Paul Avalon had it made. He was a great surfer and, at one time, the star of a TV show. He was as vain as it was possible to be until his world came crashing down. He traded in his Land Rover for a fading yellow Daihatsu and headed north to a hard to reach surf spot he loved. Before he got there, his car crashed and he had a near death experience that took him to the "Loka." He spent his time surfing with one of his surfing idols, Jake Newman, who had died surfing the very break Paul was heading for. It was called DOA for a reason, as Jake found out. When Paul returned to earth, his outlook on life changed. The vain man he had been was gone, replaced by a wiser man who understood the value of kindness and compassion.
