Sotto le non troppo mentite spoglie di un anonimo gesuita francese del '700, maestro di Voltaire (che studiò effettivamente dai gesuiti a Parigi), l'autore rivolge una satirica lettera dal Paradiso al padre dell'Illuminismo, immaginato ospite del Limbo di dantesca memoria. La lettera-pamphlet mostra come la difesa della libertà di espressione a tutti i costi – evidente nella reazione immediata agli attentati di Parigi del gennaio 2015 – rischi di diventare una verità assoluta, che acceca gli uomini al posto di aiutarli a vedere il mondo con occhi limpidi e pieni di attenzione e amore per tutti. Con l'esito paradossale che il migliore fruttodell'Illuminismo dà origine a un nuovo oscurantismo antireligioso.
